Freight
Amount
Quantity of shipped units
Quantity of shipped units measured in metric tonnes or TEU.
Weight
Unit
The unit defines the weight of the transport. The weight is shown in metric tonnes.
Select TEU for container transport. One TEU corresponds to one twenty-foot container. If TEU is selected, the weight is calculated on the basis of the load type (or the load factor, respectively).

Type:
Freight type
The freight type defines the load factor and empty trip factor for the transport modes truck and train if the freight unit is tonnes.

t/TEU
Tonners per TEU
Net weight in tonnes of the load carried by a TEU. This value affects the load factor for lorry or train transport, if the calculation is based on TEU.
Define handling:
Factors into the calculation the loading activities to change transport modes.
Depending on the cargo type, additional emissions occurring during transloading (e.g. from train to lorry) are accounted for in the calculation. (c. methodology report ch. 6.7)

Ferry routing
Includes ferries
Determine ferry priorities for the routing
  • "Normal": Selects a ferry if the detour is five times longer.
  • "Preferred": Selects a ferry if it shortens the route (independent of the detour).
  • "Avoid": Selects a ferry only if the detour would be 100 times longer.
